Definitely took me a long while to get the hang of it, but when I got the purpose it was really fun!

I really loved the pixel arts and the polishing. The camera shakes added a nice detail to the game. The purpose of the game is really interesting as well---It took me a while to realize I have to build up haha. Ended up reaching the time machine but missed out on some gems...

One small suggestion is to probably change the pace at the start game a little bit---for the first few loops, I started off with a slow start between reading the tutorial beacons and digging around. However, this is not an issue at all but rather just my personal preference for the pace.

Great job!

A very complete and nice game. I am a sucker for digging games, reminds me of Steamworld Dig which is a game series a like a lot.

If the backpack and time mechanics held more strategic weight the game would be elevated to a whole new level. It is rare that I care about a loop ending and the backpack filling up just forces me to empty it. I would have also liked a tune that was a little bit longer, it gets very repeptitive after a while.

I really enjoy the goal of building upward in a game about digging, that is a fresh take on the dig concept. I also think the game nails the theme very well.

This was quite fun! Did not realize how the teleport worked initially though and damn the robot is slow when you want to move a lot but it is what it is. Think I got all the gems which was pretty cool, had a good time with it!

Very very good! Starts a tad slow but I finished it with 27/30 so that's gotta mean something! I liked finding out that I couldn't climb back up in the tunnels if I dug myself in. Embarassingly took me a while to figure out I could empty the dirt, I kept looping thinking the shovel would give me more space aha

Overall a really good game!

I really liked the limited turns mechanic, and how it blends resource management and a puzzle aspect. I liked that you can upgrade your robot with each failure. It reminds me a bit of Domekeeper.

Here's some feedback I noted while playing:

I think the game could use a bit more "hand-holding" at the beginning, as it is a bit overwhelming on what to do. Perhaps some objectives on what I should do first, to guide my next steps.

While there are a bunch of "tutorial beacons" here and there, I kept revisiting each one because I forgot what each one said. And I got lost so I had to re-read everything again. Maybe they should fade out once you've seen them as I wasn't sure which ones I'd already read.

Also you need to have used WASD to move, to see the WASD tutorial, so I wonder if it's a redundant signboard.

The upper left UI is difficult to read - it is bright yellow text on top of other bright coloured pixels.

Tooltips could also be added to the UI elements on the right -  After the bomb, I didn't know what the other 2 icons were supposed to represent. But even tooltips to say the bomb is obtained by XXX and is used for XXX, would help further enhance understanding.

Ultimately though, those are just some things I noted that could improve the onboarding process, and I understand they might not all be implement-able in a jam.

Overall, I'd like to say great job to you/the team on this unique game! :)

I love  my little robot! Great spin on the theme and I like the mechanics. I didn't realize initially that I needed to keep pressing on the crystalline rocks and thought I had to get a laser to break them, I don't know if that's a common point of confusion but it made me worried I was soft locked initially. Otherwise I had a lot of fun digging to the stars!

A very fun game. I spent quite some time playing the game. It looks good and it's kinda adictive. So good job :)

Beautifully made game, and I think you can add lots of content to it after the rating period ends without wearing out the concept. I had quite a few upgrades in the end and nothing really left to do, but I would've definitely spent more time going deeper :)

Really great pico-8 artstyle. Felt very fun to get the upgrades. Great gameplay loop. I feel though despite the artstyle being nice it might be limiting given this game would be made into a full release. But for the jam it's practical and it looks really good

Developer

Yeah, we are considering a 16bit art style for a more fleshed out version. Jam had to be quick lol.

art and music are top! cute litttle robot is always a plus, like the color palette

I saw many comments that I agree with so I don't really wanna add to it. I justwant to say that the game is really nice, in spite of certain elements that could use some more polishing. At the end of the day, this is done in just a few days. So, considering that, I think this was quite fun and I commend the entire team for the good work! Good luck!

Thank you. A lot of the issues would have been solved with other people testing, which just isn't feasible for a jam like this lol. But the fixes aren't too difficult.

That and it was our first time using an engine other than unreal haha

I would leave a comment detailing what I want improved but the commentor below has said any form of improvements I would have for this game, other than maybe improving upgrade UI so that it fits the theme and items are easier to understand (I really can't tell what that WiFi looking thing actually is even though I know the five options).

But anyway, this game really is nice. The time loop is applied in a way that feels more reasonable than restrictive. It was a fun time. The artwork is great, just watch out for the UI thing. Story is alright, maybe a bit slow in that I played a fair bit and still don't know much, but having a story in the first place is better than so many jam participants. Audio is fine, although I felt the background music might have been a little too quiet relative to the sfx. Overall, this was a great submission, well done!

Pretty interesting mechanically. Very reminiscent of Motherlode (as another commentator said).

I like the gameplay loop, but it does feel very bad in the early game to get bottlenecked by hitting storage capacity from useless dirt.  The balance feels like it could have been tipped towards giving less moves, but more storage capacity at the start of the game.

Making moves also feels VERY slow which contributes to the early game feeling like a slog. Wish the game let you make moves a lot faster.

I was slightly disappointed to see how much of the signposts were information that I could have otherwise figured out from gameplay, like a sign that says "this is a box that gives you ore!" next to a box that gives you ore. A bit more "show, don't tell" would have gone a long way, I feel.

I like the game concept, It took me a second to find i can dig through walls. The art and especially the icon is amazing.

Submitted(+1)

The art is amazing! I feel like some sort of tutorial level that helps you understand the game loop would be helpful, I flailed around for a little bit at the beginning unsure what to do. I also feel like a description of everything in the store would be nice. Overall though, I was compelled to explore with my little robot, great job!

Loved the fun game!  Great artwork shown by your artists!  I appreciate the store aspect and who doesn’t like a good dig that not only goes down but back up.  I have to find the ore blocks better though Needed a short tutorial on the blocks

Submitted(+1)

Great job! It is very impressive that you made this large of a game within the 4-day period. I enjoy the time limit as an added layer of difficulty, and I wish it didn't become obsolete so quickly in the late-game. It took me a few rounds to figure out exactly how to get ore, so I would recommend adding a tutorial or at least something noting which block it is, as I just thought the ore blocks were extra-hard blocks. Once I got past that hurdle, though, the game was really fun and I loved using the bombs (Unfortunately even 4 bombs could not break the bottom of the map).

I have a big love of steamworld dig, so I love this kinda game! Really love the differences here and while the upgrades were a little confusing with a lack of information - you could really feel the difference they made!

Submitted(+1)

Awesome game! Super original and very well polished - I especially loved the music. The only note I had is that I had no clue what the power-ups specifically did, so had to end up wasting a lot of ores to try and figure that out. Great game!

Submitted(+1)

the progression and being able to get lower and lower into the ground was very satisfying. i missed a bit of explanation for what the powerups do exactly, but it was pretty fun :)
