Really like this game - the controls are delightfully frustrating. I mean that in the best way - I have to really think ahead if I want to boost just a little more and it makes all the difference in the time. Great submission, thanks for sharing! :D
Is it all real people in leaderboards? Hard to believe someone make it in 7 sec when it needed like 4 to reach first satellite. Also starting from place 13 spaceships boosting from the start at doublespeed and i have no idea how.
Either way i'm pretty happy with mine #15, good game
Really enjoyed this one! I played a couple times and got #110 on the leaderboard. I'm interested to see how the top 10 did it, I could barely optimise down to 19 seconds. It's not a particularly long game, but it has a fun LOOP! Would love to see other levels to race in, could expand this to include a custom level editor if it were to become a full game
Stressful fun. Cringe every time I was about to crash and knew it was too late. A little annoying to start over and have to hear from the scary villain again :) until I realized the space bar for fast reset. I also used it when I knew I was toast :) Personally I might tweak the momentum or open up the arena more. Also a control to increase FOV so I could strategize / prepare a little more. Th ghost idea was sick and leaderboards brings out the sickness! Also the art with the outlining was crisp and nice and catchy tune. Worth playing again and again.
Loved this game, such a great take on the theme and it was fun to compete with players of the past! Seeing the paths of the next best players is a fantastic idea, it encourages the player to improve and compete, and I'm sure it's the main reason I played as long as I did. The physics feel unlike any other racing game, I never quite felt like I had control, but I think that's part of the fun of this one. This is a really polished game, and I especially loved the death animation. Fantastic work!
This music is absolutely bumping and this game is honestly a lot of fun to play over and over again. My one minor nitpick is I kept trying to get the dialogue out faster and kept skipping it, other than that it's all fantastic
I love the premise and how you're encouraged to get a better and better time. I normally don't go for that sort of thing but I was practicing my drifting around the asteroids so much here. Good work!
Nice game :) I had fun!
Fun little game, very tricky to fly well. Love the styling and restart transition!
Man is this game difficult, but it was one of the games I played for the longest, so awesome job. I think after reaching 17-something seconds I wasn't able to improve my score anymore. But I really wanted to follow the narrative to the end. Maybe I'll come back later to try again >:)
Thanks for playing! And don't let the top 10 leaderboard deceive you, 17 seconds is a great time :)
Love the polish on this one! Really satisfying how quickly you can restart and try again, although I never seemed to get faster than 11.6. Even so, great game!!
Thanks for playing! 11.6 is a very respectable time, I could never get sub 14 seconds myself :)
So much fun! Very polished, as usual. Tried for a while to get <11.5, but didn't manage. Oh well, still pretty happy with my time. Good thing we aren't governed by megacorporations in real life. Oh wait ...
Also, I have a weird craving for chocolate chip cookies now, I wonder why ...
Thanks for playing! Haha I never saw the asteroids as cookies until now, and from now I'll never see them as anything else :)
Haha, you're welcome, or sorry, whichever you prefer.
Super polished game! The time loop animation was smooth as butter, and the ghost ships were a really cool touch. Movement felt great (if a bit deadly!), and the dialogue was pretty funny too. GJ!
Thanks for playing and for your kind comments!
Ok i had to try again. Maybe a sub 7 is possible but needs new routing
Wow - congratulations on the world record! Thanks for playing!
If only there was a breaking system for the rockets, It would have been more satisfying to control the rocket that way. One can always avoid destruction by just going slow. But yk, that's now fun come on.
Thanks for playing! I probably could have explained it better, but similar to the original Asteroids the way to brake or slow down is to thrust in the opposite direction.
But it's certainly possible to do the whole course without slowing down once (#1 is 7.9 seconds) - it's less about going slow and more about anticipating changes in direction ahead of time and boosting in advance to change course without losing speed.
tom ragtag does it again!!! maybe it's my current trackmania obsession showing but i had too much fun just playing this over and over. unfortunately, i couldn't seem to get any better than 14 seconds, but i love how the metanarrative layer commented on the unsustainable expectation of infinite growth. to be honest, it reminded me of the GMTK Game Jam itself: it's expected to grow larger and larger every year, placing more pressure on the staff and participants each time. what will falter first, i wonder??
while i enjoyed the challenge, the game maybe felt a bit too difficult. i think there could be a visual indicator of the satellite locations so it relied less on memorization. or maybe a way to see your previous path as a whole, so you can keep the same line but focus on improving each time. either way, the game felt sooo polished, bringing the same professional energy your games have every year. such fun stuff -- excited to see what you make next!!
well, got my answer! definitely a healthy step forward i think. sorry for hijacking my feedback for such an odd tangent haha

Thanks so much for your kind words! From one TrackMania obsessive to another, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
14 seconds is a very respectable time :) The narrative more about venting against my day job that commentary on the jam itself, but I'm really like your interpretation
Thanks for suggestion to include your previous ghost (duh, how could I miss that), and I like the suggestion of showing the whole line too, that's a great addition that will come in a post-jam update!
Re: visual indicator for satellite locations - I considered that, but ultimately decided against it. I figured learning the map provides a way for all players to improve their time, even if they are unable to improve their time "mechanically" they will natural improve over a few runs.
Thanks again for playing and great feedback!
for sure! i think the chase for constant improvement at constant threat of layoff is stressing our workforce near the breaking point!! its really cool to me how your gameplay connects itself to such a clear narrative theme even with limited dialogue
That time loop animation was smooth as butter. This feels really polished and the "ghost" versions of other ships is very cool. I'm really impressed by the implementation of everything and how clean it feels. I do feel like the controls could have been a smidge more forgiving, but maybe that's just a skill issue on my part!
Really cool game! Its impressive that you got an online leaderboard working in such a short amount of time.
Nice one! I enjoyed it. It is challenging but fun to play. Feels very polished
Thanks for playing!
Does the game have an ending ? If not then that's some existential horror right there. oof
Either way, you've definitely put out a fun game here. It controls well and is pretty addictive in it's primary loop ( pun not intended ). Loved the overall presentation as well. The graphics were slick and readable and the audio was cool.
I also appreciate the quick restarts. Definitely helps in this case where every second really counts and helps keep up the pace of the game. The ship definitely controls pretty good as well. Reminds me of a mobile game called data wing actually. I also loved how you managed to really keep a pretty fun narrative in the game without it feeling shoe-horned. Didn't really expect that twist either lol
Part of me kinda wishes that you zoomed out a little in the beginning just so a player has a decent look at the whole map before racing, mostly because a few laps ( or technically loops lol ) went in just learning the track. That said, I don't think this is that much of a problem since learning the track is part of the game's core idea at the end of the day.
All in all, I'd say this is a fantastic entry all around. Great stuff
Thanks for playing, glad you liked it! That's a pretty respectable time you've got there :)
Glad you liked the narrative, that was added at the 11th hour when I realised "narrative" was voting category this year lol. Happy you got to see the "twist", I expect most players won't get that far (you need several time improvements to see it).
Good idea about zooming out before the action starts - makes a lot of sense, and doesn't detract too much from having to learn the map layout.
Thanks again!
