nice. cool pico 8 game in jam
Really happy to see some PICO-8 Games on this jam!
Love the graphics and concept, too bad there is no audio would've loved to hear
mariored bro jump !You really did adapt well the original game on Pice-8 both in graphics and overall feeling, good job !
The second pico game I’ve played so far. Always a fan of the art style on these games. Was a fun little twist. Good work!
This is the first game I play made in Pico 8.
Pretty nice, and also original idea!
I like this take on a classic. And this is really good pico 8 work! I have the highest respect for pico 8 games. Not easy to make. Well done!
the blocks arent interactable or is that a bug? i chose "icy" for the next round/world and nothing really changed :( i did enjoy jumping on the "shgoombas"
Thanks for playing. It's not a bug, I didn't want to fully recreate SMB, just use it as a refernece point as its such a familiar level we've all played many many times.
The ice modifier just messes with the physics of the ground. I had hoped to edit the sprites too to convey the ground was now icy but time was against me.
Appreciate the feedback though :)
oooh snap, yeah i see it now, thanks for the reply!
Ive seen this concept done a handful of times through this jam (thats not a bad thing) doing it in a level that everyone is so familiar with makes it so much better!
My game is a cross between Super Mario Galaxy, and Cuphead, if you have any interest!
A little too derivative in my opinion, though I do appreciate the how authentically the level is represented based on the source material. Some of the perks are definitely more favorable than others as well (floaty is kinda overpowered). But I do really like the concept, and the execution is solid. Nice job!
Great exploring on the theme! Level was so long to just have a one life, and hard resetting after each fail. Love the pico art though!
why am I playing as mark brown
Love the twist, good entry !
I think this game would have been more fun if the '1-1' was original and not almost directly copied and pasted from Super Mario Bros. 1-1 in Super Mario Bros. works because it is designed around Mario's movements whilst the characters here do not have the same movement as Mario and it just makes traversing the levels harder in a non-fun way. Like you can have an homage to 1-1 from Super Mario Bros. without it being directly copied. Some effects like the fire one was more annoying than fun and the darkness effect does not work at all for this kind of game as the jumps feel blind which isn't a great feeling whilst platforming in a game which sends you back to the start.
I liked the art which is pretty good and cute as well. I don't think this is a bad idea at all either, just needed some work!
Cool idea!
I liked that each challenge made the level feel a bit fresher.
level design is pretty interesting, love the idea behind some of them!
Love the art style and the unique twists to the level :)
Really cute ! The controls are a bit stiff but overall the it's a fun twist to the most famous level of the video game history
Pico <3
great demake with a twist
I love how this game is done
Great idea! Very clever twist on the theme
Interesting idea, the death penalty is pretty harsh because quite frankly the loop is the interesting part not the vanilla level which you end up needing to do all the time.
Very good point. The win/loss conditions probably deserved more attention than I had capacity for.
Thanks for playing, I appreciate the useful and valid feedback! :)
