A nice relaxing game with a good tutorial - very important in a game with a lot of rules and stats. The art was very well done. The lamps having a slight glow is a nice touch.
thank you :)
color-fall game
thanks!
Overall:
The game is incredibly extensive for a jam entry! It could easily work as a mobile casual game and has a pleasant atmosphere. The gameplay is fun, and I really enjoyed decorating the rooms. It could be more relaxing if it werenât for the timer. Iâm not sure whether the game might actually work better without it — of course, the upgrades would then need to be reworked, but in my opinion the gameplay would benefit.
I found it a bit disappointing that furniture pieces werenât allowed to overlap; for example, I wanted to place a rug under a table, but the game didnât let me. Still, decorating was a lot of fun, and the variety of customers added a huge amount of charm. I sometimes wished I could rearrange furniture afterward, but unfortunately that wasnât possible.
Graphics:
Simple but solid graphics that do enough to motivate the player to experiment. Everything is clearly recognizable. At times it felt a bit colorful — did you use a specific palette?
The UI also worked well and was intuitive to use!
Music:
The music fit the gameplay and supported the mood nicely. The sound effects were also well chosen and provided pleasant feedback when placing furniture or decorations. The occasional voice acting after completing a room was great too!
Theme:
It features multiple rooms that you decorate, but the theme was definitely taken into account overall!
Conclusion:
A well-made decoration game with some great ideas — and strong potential to become a good mobile game! A wonderful submission for the jam!
Thank you so much for such a well-rounded review! I liked your suggestions on the stacking (it seems most people want to put tables on rugs hahah) and having a separate mode without a timer (That one was definitely on the cards during building but unfortunately ran out of time!) Glad that you had fun, and also a good suggestion for this to be a mobile game. If i could give this review a rating it would be 5 stars :D
Edit - for the question on pallette - i used an asset pack, but edited some of the assets - recolor, adding borders etc. And no i didnt use a pallette.
What a satisfying game! I really loved the vibe it gives off — it's so cozy and relaxing. Iâll admit, scenario organization games arenât usually my favorites, but this one is definitely the exception due to all the care that went into its production, from the dialogues and interactions to the way we play and progress.
Itâs not just a game about tidying up a room and leveling up; itâs about advancing in your career through ratings, which makes everything so much more fun. I feel like some items are really much better than others, and Iâd even say theyâre almost universal, as they can fit nearly every clientâs taste.
I really wish there was an option to stack items, as rugs take up quite a bit of space. While Iâm not a great interior designer, I feel like I couldâve used the space much better if I could, for example, place tables or chairs on top of the rugs. Maybe a depth system could solve this, with each object having a depth value, and the game checking if one is âshallowerâ than another, allowing it to be placed on top of âdeeperâ objects.
A simple suggestion: in the menu, I noticed the tutorial button wasnât very prominent. It would be helpful if it stood out as much as the other buttons, even if it's active by default. This would make it easier for players who want to replay the game and avoid going through the tutorial again. It may not be essential for your project right now, but it could definitely be useful in the future or for other projects.
Overall, itâs a very fun game to play. It was interesting to see my disastrous interior designer career finally take off and unlock new items and clients. Congratulations on the game, and good luck with the jam!
Thank you so much for playing and the indepth review. I like your suggestion of having the ability to stack some items on top of each other with a depth system - quite interesting! Also point noted about the tutorial, thank you :)
This is pretty fun and cozy game where you do a bit of decoration and think how you can add utility value.
The cool stuff was you can choose difficulty, the UI is pretty nice and the tutorial is very helpful! The art and music and voice acting was excellent!
My only gripe is that I wish there was a quick remove button instead of a "Remove all" but it's a small feature.
Thank you for playing and the feedback :) I agree that this feature should have been there, will definitely look to include it in future builds post the jam!
Okay a fun game, really enjoyed it but it seems that rug are way too OP LOL. I pass through most level by only spamming the utility rug and bear rug. Another chill game, the art was smooth and nic and the music was calm. This game is great overall, great job!
hahah ok, thanks for pointing that out! Theres a bit of balancing i need to do now hehe. Glad you enjoyed it :)
Cute game! Very addictive, even though it's not my usual cup of tea. Feels like a higher-pressure version of ACNH's vacation home designing. Incredible use of the theme, too.
I wished more than once that I could move or remove individual objects after they were placed. As far as I could tell, once an item was set down, that's its forever home unless you remove everything. Also the rugs seem to be on a higher z level than everything else, so you can only put them on top of other things. Which my kids would love.
Nice job on this one! I had a lot of fun with it.
thank you so much for playing, glad you liked it! Im not aware of the vacation home design game but ill check it out!
Oh it's one of the downloadable expansions for Animal Crossing on the Switch.
5 time IDOTY award winner, lets goooo đ€đ€ Such a fun game with a super chill vibe, excellent job team!! I really enjoyed vibing out and decorating for each customer. The different requirements kept things interesting and the timer was a good design choice, keeping me on my toes. Having upgrades in between customers was another cool decision that I wouldn't expect to see in this sort of game and I dig it. A free play mode with no timer or budget would be a fun addition too.
The variety of furniture is awesome and I enjoyed unlocking new things as I progressed in my career (shout out disco lighting). I do wish I could have stacked items on top of each other (e.g. putting a cactus on top of a wardrobe or a table on top of a rug), and I would definitely recommend adding that if you continue working on the game. 8 directional furniture rotation (instead of 4) was a really neat touch and I appreciated being able to play the whole game with only the mouse, controls felt smooth and intuitive. Also, not a huge deal but the UI felt a little off with the vibe of the rest of the game. The voice acting is a great detail and adds a lot of personality, but I wish the mixing was a little different as its hard to hear over the music. Maybe fading out the music when the voice line comes in and then fading the music back in after could work.
Overall, I very much enjoyed my playthrough and this is easily one of my favorite games I've played in the jam. You all did an awesome job and nailed the chill/cozy vibes, keep up the great work!!
Thank you so much for playing and the detailed review, really appreciate it! Great suggestions as well! stacking furniture on top of each other is a nice idea (maybe only specific things allowed)! I was planning on putting 2 modes - a chillax mode and timed mode, so thats definitely on the cards in future if i work on this! Thanks for the feedback on the UI and volume levels. will definitely try to improve it :)
Arranging the room to match the clientâs requests was really fun, and the time pressure added a nice challenge. Enjoyed it :)
Thank you so much for playing , glad that you liked it!
When in doubt, place a coffee table đ
The game looks very clean and polished and I love the aestetics. It was very fun with some good puzzles before I discovered the coffe table was that powerful!
Overall very well done!
I'm not the best at using the mouse so the speedrun isn't very optimized, but I tried my best :)
Hahahah that playthrough was indeed funny :D leave it to the speedrunners to break your game eh? But really appreciate you playing and recording, its a treat for any game dev to watch their games being played by others. I will have to balance the coffee table now :)
First of all- even if I got the reward at the end, I feel like I'd be a bad designer :) I put several of the same objects, and I blocked the door and the windows with furniture every time, but with no consequence!
I have to say- I had fun. I could see this game as a bigger release, where you would get more and more complicated orders, with more and more constricting rules (such as 'no furniture near the window', 'no more than two chairs of same type').
The graphics were readable, the interface clear and easy to use. The sound fit the game, and there's an extra point for voice acting :)
The use of theme was pretty good. I always appreciate when the gameplay is really connected to the theme, and in your case it is just that!
Over all- I expected to find something really simple, but I ended up having more fun than I expected! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for playing and glad you had fun! I like the suggestion of no blocking the door or window, can be implemented pretty easily also.
