Loved the game a lot! The story is interesting and engaging, the writing felt very alive, and I also related to Sage a lot tbh
The art is goddamn great, I especially loved the beautiful CGs and Sage's expressions!

Excellent job, I really hope to see the full game one day!

EXCITED TO SEE MORE OF THIS

Really loved the art and the concept !! The character writing felt really solid, and for a game with so much text there were very minimal grammatical errors which is always impressive
I really enjoyed how every friend in the phone had a different speaking pattern and way of typing it felt a lot more real

Did not disappoint, the execution of the concept (so far) felt like it landed well !

Developer(+1)

You're way too kind :D

I tried to do my best with the grammar but I'm not a native speaker, and considering it was for a jam... I figured it would be good enough for now. XD When the jam is over and time isn't an issue anymore, I'll def reach out to my usual beta readers.

I'm so happy you spotted the speaking patterns, I tried to keep it consistent but since they don't talk THAT much, I wasn't sure it would be obvious.

Thank you again for playing our game!

There's no one who doesn't love a doppelganger story. I want to tell you that your sound selection was absolutely brilliant. It was truly eerie, and a chill that made me want to turn off the game right then and there (in a good way) crawled down my spine.

Developer

Simon did such an amazing job with the tracks! I added the slime noises for the extra organic unpleasantness. Thank you so much for taking the time to play our game :D

Submitted(+1)

Even if it's unfinished, what was there was very interesting. I especially liked all the art.

I hope I'll be able to play the full story eventually!

Developer

I hope so too! But the team seems to be hype for it so... Probably soon! :D

Submitted(+1)

Enjoyed this one, but the story ended way too soon! Looking forward to playing the full game.

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot, the three of us want to finish the story, so hopefully it'll be done soon!

Submitted(+1)

Freaky game! I liked the concept of a parasitic plant. If it was me, I would just embrace my new twin life haha. Lovely art and beautiful music! Good luck with developing the whole game! ^^

Developer

Rafflesias are parasitic flowers that do steal nutrients from vines so they can do ONE GIGANTIC FLOWER and not have to bother making leaves etc... It's all very neat, nature is wild :D

Thank you so much for your kind words, I hope you have a good game jam as well!

They may offer you fortune and fame,
Love and money and instant acclaim,
But whatever they offer you, don't feed the plants!

We love a gal with a special interest. Can't wait to see where this goes :)

Developer(+1)

If I had the skill to make a musical number...! Thank you very much, I hope you like the rest of the story when we get to it :D The three of us all want to see it completed, so hopefully soon!

Submitted(+1)

It ended right after it's about to get interesting! Still, all of the art looks great and really polished. Also enjoy all the dialogues, too, even though I didn't know anything about plants.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I ran out of time, so I decided to leave the story at a climatic moment, rather than stop later and have the pacing be worse U_U

Thank you very much for playing our game!

Submitted(+1)

It was cool. The visuals are great, and I immediately appreciated the character's wide range of emotions. I especially enjoyed the music. The story was creepy, but it ended too quickly, leaving me wanting more.

Developer

Thank you very much for the feedback! Hopefully we'll finish it post jam :D

Submitted(+1)

the character art was great! all of sage's expressions are very good 💚 also really liked the music & CGs. the phone messaging was well written and relatable haha. i know [redacted] is supposed to be ominous but i can't help but imagine she's just trying her best to help MC get out of the family dinner 😂

looking forward to this developing further!!

Developer(+1)

You aren't entirely wrong, considering this whole thing is kind of a metaphor for masking as an autistic person... It is trying to help, but whether or not it's able to is another story entirely XD

Thank you so much for reviewing our game!

Submitted(+1)

Oh how interesting! I feel the twist was kinda written all over the place, from main menu to the initial scenes, but that's not a bad thing, on the other hand I was annoyed that it left off where it did, in a good way, I wanted to see more. Cliffhanger executed perfectly. Writing overall was nice, I can always respect the "first choice is just to end the game early" ending and here it was just as fun. I can resonate with the horrors of drawing backgrounds for visual novels (as in, I do not know why anyone would do them willingly), but hope you guys continue to finish this one to the end! Good job!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, the main menu is a placeholder since we didn't have time to finish the UI, and a lot of people pointed out that it spoiled that one scene... And I think you're right, I should have managed my time better U_U

Uri did all the backgrounds and I'm so impressed they managed to make so many in sucha short time!

Thank you for playing our game :D

Submitted(+1)

Currently unfinished, it's still a very great VN! The premise is interesting, clearly the person writing the script knows their plants (knows someone who knows their plants lol).

The character is weirdly well written, like, I resonated with MCs thought processes so much LOL

Looking forward to the full version!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing our game :D I hope to finish it soon, I do relate a lot to Sage U_U

Dammit I was so invested to the story

Please complete this game... Pls :)

Really like the story

Very good protagonist (I am a sucker for twin stories) and loved the style

The close up shoots also very good (reminds me of Saya no Uta)

Great job and keep working on it!

Developer(+1)

Aw thank you for the kind words!! I am hoping to finish it as soon as I'm done with my current project, so stay tuned :D Hopefully it doesn't disappoint :P

Can't wait 😁

Wowww this was a star entry for me! The art, as suspected is absolutely phenomenal. I can see how you may have wanted to do a longer game/story, but given that you 'cut it short' it felt complete up until I got to the end, then I was left wanting more. Hope you finish this one, it's absolutely beautiful, and the horror aspect was definitely creeping in - giving me vibes of Saya no Uta, Little Shop of Horrors. and maybe a bit of The Substance. Yay for Horror VNs, hope you continue to make more and I'd say it's fairly obvious this was a good team up :)

Developer

OMG you made midnight munch last year, I didn't know you were in this one too! I gotta play yours tomorrow, adding it to my list.

The Substance was one of my favorite horror movie this year, so I'm delighted that the inspiration shone through :D (Also Uri added the Audrey II plushie and it was such a good call imho). And Saya no Uta is such a horror classic, really flattered by the comparison XD

Thank you so much for taking the time to play it and I hope you have a great jam.

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Yes I am happy you remember me, as soon as I saw you were participating in this Jam I had to check it out and was not disappointed, nice to see your VN projects evolve! <3 I am also glad you know Saya no Uta, I consider it a strange gem...the Audrey 2 was a perfect fit it really set a mood for foreshadowing but I felt this escalated to dark much faster!

Submitted(+1)

Just finished playing it, and I love the art style! The ending got me leaning in closer to my screen out of curiosity. Love it! I enjoy a lot of themes like body horror, and when it involves plants, it gets me even more interested.

Very creative!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing our game, I hope you'll like the finished game when it's done :D

Man, what is Aria's deal all I said was I had migraine, sheeesssh. They story is relatable, the plant trying to replace me part and the art is amazing. Good job and good luck completing the game.

Developer

Honestly a lot of my work experience is people hearing things I did not say and getting mad about it, so Aria is very much inspired by those coworkers... Thank you for the kind words, I'll do my best!

Submitted

Shame that the game isn't finished, there was a lot of buildup

Otherwise, not bad!

Developer

Yeah it's a pretty thorough story, hopefully I get to finish writing it :D

Submitted(+1)

I'm really intrigued to see how it ends! Poor Sage ;-;

(Also I love that there's a 'genre savvy' ending haha)

Developer(+1)

There's nothing funnier to me than a horror protagonist just refusing to engage with the story hook at all XD thank you for taking the time to play it!

Submitted

As tough i'm not used to play  ren'py games and neither know much about plants, the story really got me immersed. The protag is so wonderfully relatable (painfully even😓), but it could use sounds and music work to increase the tension. The story was greatly made and i'm honestly hooked on it, i'm surely excited to see what comes up next!

Developer

Oh, which version did you play? There is music and sounds, do they not come up at all? D: It's not a bug I caught yet.

Submitted(+1)

Oh, sorry i might have came off wrong(english not my first language lol), it's just i think that there could be more SE to add to the atmosphere! Otherwise it's a really good game, all my team loved it!

Developer(+1)

Aaaaah no worries, english isn't my first language either (I'm french)! That makes sense, I was worried there was some weird bug. Thank you and thank your team for me! Good luck with the jam!

Submitted(+1)

To be honest I don't play a lot of these genre of games, but I love plants, and I learned a lot about them with this game! Is such an intriguing story and I would love to see how it ends!!

Even if it disturbed me at the end and is a great concept, It was sorta expectable for I, so I couldn't get the horror trap me in, maybe it's because of the tittle screen? like you sorta see it comming with it.
Regardless, I loved this story and is one of the best games I've seen in the jam so far. Even if it's not the genre I love, it does a great job to deliver it's story and charm.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, tbh the title screen is just a placeholder because renpy's basic main menu is kinda ugl. We ran out of time to finish the UI so we threw that one together, but a less spoilery visual would def be better.
