Here's my playthrough of your game! It's at the start of this video.
Really enjoy the concept of this game hope to see more :)
I hope you will further develop this idea. The game has a great visual and sound design. The gameplay really makes you feel like a detective. Great job!
Really cool idea! The artstyle and aesthetics were great, and being able to look out the window added a nice layer of creepiness to it. I also liked the concept behind looking through the letters, but with the exception of the UV light, I had a REALLY hard time finding out what letters had hidden messages and which ones were safe. Going through line by line was really tedious and I wasn't quite sure what I was looking for with the lining up the two pages. Maybe I'm just bad at this kind of thing, but I swear I was not finding any messages by lining up the two pages. Regardless, really cool game!
Really great game, reminded me a lot of Papers Please. The art style is truly outstanding. I have to admit that searching through the letters got a bit boring for me towards the end. But that might be because I'm not a native speaker, which made it a bit more difficult for me. Great Job!
Love the aesthetic of the game and the almost paper-please mechanics! It took a hot minute to get used to the different tools but it’s pretty unique! I wonder what’s the deal with the cult and why we casually have nosfertu living in the neighbourhood.
This has great potential to be a very interesting full game! Excellent work!
I really enjoyed the gameplay! The art is outstanding, and I really felt the dread of impending doom!!!
Couldn't find a way to full screen, and F4 won't work, so the text was tiny and really hard for me to read.
In the finishing encounter with that creepy guy, I faced a bug where his dialogue would show behind the letters, and I wasn't able to read it at all
Great job! Hope to get to see the full version eventually!
Clever gameplay in the style of Papers Please. Great classic Macintosh-style artwork.
My only complaint (and it's not a big one) is that I couldn't quite figure out what the conspiracy was...
Mechanically impressive game. I like the highlight hidden message things lot. Played till the end.
I enjoyed this a lot very creative! Polished and good aesthetic. I didn't manage to utilize the window taping mechanic as I couldn't get them to line up, and I found it tedious to un-tape and re-select the pages to compare them, maybe I misunderstood how it should be used but with 5 pages, it felt like it took a decent amount of time just going through them all on the window. I really enjoyed the little conversations with the person at the window and I feel like if you developed the game more, the window would be a great place to see the story evolve.
This is seriously super impressive. It's the best game I've played in this jam so far, and I really do mean that. The narrative is great, the gameplay is smooth and bug-free, and it's super fun! It took me such a long time to figure out how to use the first tool, but once I did, I had a great time! I think you should keep going with this game. I would gladly spend money on this if it had more content and I'm sure other people would, too.
Thank you so much for your message maxtons, it really means a lot :)
And it makes me consider continuing it into a fully fleshed game!
I liked the art and themes of the main game. This idea expanded upon could be a cool game. I might've just been bad at it but I did find it confusing at times to determine if a letter was good or bad.
I loooved playing this game! It reminded me of Papers Please a lot! I really liked the mechanics, very creative! Great job!
Thank youuu! It was indeed my main source of inspiration :)
That was absolutely AMAZING. The idea was so unique. I only really had a problem with the first method, but that's probably because I kind of didn't know where to put that thing on the letters. I really liked the method with the window, it was very fun putting the letters over each other. Oh, and the jump scare at the end scared me a lot xd. Long story short, I liked the game and would love to see more from you!!!
Thank you so much for your reply :) I'm really glad you enjoyed your experience with the game!
Love this! Such a cool idea and well executed! Wish it wasn't as short now :D
Thank you for playing! :)
Wow this one was really unique. I love the idea of investigating through letters in the town. It made me realize I am a terrible detective.
I'm unsure if I died because I did bad on the second night or if it was meant to end there, but either way it was a fun little death.
I'd love to see this idea be explored further! However one criticism is that I felt really dumb using any tool but the flashlight. Most likely it is user error, but I found it pretty hard to find anything using the other two methods beside the flashlight. Maybe there can be some visual indicator when you find something?
Thank you for your feedback! You're totally right, I should add some sound effect or something else when you get closer to the answer while using one of the other tools, to hint thé player to the right direction.
