Very fun shooter, but enemy health felt really high, and having to reset to the same set of three boring items felt frustrating. Dash never quite felt right to slot in either. Really good ideas here though.
Such a cool concept ! Loved the graphics and gamefeel, really good job
WOW! So much packed in here for a game jam!!! :O And overall, so much polish!! Love the look of the art, so well done.
I had a minor nitpick of wanting to drag and drop the cards in the deck. :P
This idea of building out your decks to create a series of moves in a shooter is super neat. I wish I could've gotten further... seems like you implemented SO many cards here! Would be fun to try them all. I do wish the damage was a little higher? It got frustrating too quickly and I just gave up. I think if each shot did more damage, it would be super satisfying. (Especially with such limited cards and a timer on some). It felt tuned SO hard. Also, for me, I found the dodge card frustrating because most often I dodged into enemies and died because of it.
The laser was awesome, but with the damage so low, also ended up being more frustrating than fun. :(
I think with some tuning, this might be one of my fav games of the jam though.
We had a very similar idea to yours in this deckbuilder combat with an action loop. Loved the different combos you can make and how you implemented the idea in this top down shooter. Very impressive results for a one person game! Great submission!
Really cool combo of deckbuilder and roguelike shooter. Also very creative implementation of the theme. This is one of my favorites I've played so far.
Despite using it as a very small part compared to the sheer size of the genre, you've managed to make deck building the most shiny mechanic in the game. it was fun to play a top-down shooter trying to figure out card synergies, combos, enemies and find an ideal that suited my own abilities. very lovely game!
I really enjoyed this one. The controls feel good and there's a lot of polish here. I also love the pixel art. For a jam game there's a surprising amount of card synergies here too. One of my favourites so far, great job!
Thank you!
Really fun and cool game.
Really cool game! I wished the reload activated on its own but it was still useful.
There are a lot of cards and combos, this must have been a lot of work. Congrats!
That was really fun! took me a minute to figure out how to actually start the game, i thought the X on the modifiers menu would go back but that’s just a small point of confusion. Otherwise had a lot of fun!
Nice job!
Thanks for the feedback!
Deck system is a cool invention in this genre. Familiar game elements feel different. I enjoyed the cards diversity and builds variety.
Thanks!
I see, a fellow roguelike dev with lots of lighting and a black hole in the game.
This is very polished, looks and feels great. Only suggestion I have is adding mana instead of card cooldowns, so that I could chain a combo.
Very solid entry, great concept game
Oooo! That's a great idea! Especially as a shooter, being able to control that timing a bit would be more satisfying and add to the in-game choices more.
It's fun and is quite a unique way of interpreting the theme. I do wish it started out a little easier to help us get a grip with the mechanics, though.
Thanks for the feedback!
Awesome game, I feel like remembering how you built your deck adds a lot of fun and the idea is pretty original too
Awesome game, super polished too! Although I will admit I dashed straight into the enemies far too many times but then again that's my skill issue.
Thanks for the comment! Happens to all of us ;)
The sound effects are great and the artstyle is simple and clear. Amazing stuff 👌 really cool interpretation of the theme loop
Super polished and fun! the concept on its own was interesting but the art and animations really make it feel like a complete game.
If you dont mind, please rate my game as well :)
Really enjoyed the game man. Everything feels pretty neat and responsive, I love it! Took me a while to realize that shotgun pellets need to shoot from afar, single bullet is straight up arse, laser beam is oddly satisfying, dashing is in most cases hinders you, and... ok I really don't know what's the loop-looking skill is for ;))
A few notes I would love to share though. The tutorial has so many words, which may cause majority of players to turn away too early. Maybe a way to visually teach the player instead? Moreover, a few skills are not that balanced, like the single bullet mentioned earlier, took forever to kill a single zombie. It could be because the zombie has too much HP, and just tank most of it. Killing em easier could have made the game feel more satisfying (ADHD stuff :D)
Overall, great game you have. So little ratings for this is criminal!
Thanks for the feedback! I agree, the tutorial was kind of half-assed. If you missed it in the tutorial, the cards descriptions' could be viewed by right clicking them, should've prefaced that more, so the loop decreases the next 2 cards' cooldowns, so they could be shot more in a bunch. I also agree the balancing was off at points, didn't really leave suitable time for that.
Appreciate it!
This is the best game that I've played so far, really fun
Thanks!
