right so it’s a custom game framework/light engine based on odin+mruby

for raylib the bindings are just the vendored ones that come with odin, very convenient! web export isn’t too hard really, i used Karl Zylinkski’s stuff as a reference to get the web export working – i.e. https://github.com/karl-zylinski/odin-raylib-hot-reload-game-template

the real issue is the mruby bindings. the api is a bit bonkers and is full of macros which need to be translated to odin which is sometimes pretty hairy. i dont have full support for the entire mruby api by any means

very pretty and looks like a cool idea, however i must be a complete doofus or something because i was unable to get a single box made. never found a spot where i could place the 4th tile in a square to make a slot for a flower. so i just exhausted all my cards to make a sort of sprawling shape always hoping the next one would match up somewhere, which got harder and harder to see the bigger the shape got :(

feels real nice! as someone who sucks it would be nice to have a bit more invincibility after you get hit 😅

sadly i am just hopeless with platformers, but this has a lot of style and pico8 charm ;)

yea that’s exactly what i was thinking! i thought between storms you should be harvesting the fully grown flowers (which might take longer to happen) and then you’d upgrade the robot and plant more and stuff. different storm types is a great idea!

it’s built in my own game engine that is a work in progress, so all of this was too ambitious and i simply ran out of time 😅

you know what – i absolutely loved it. a bit like star battle which i am obsessed with and play all the time. managed to get to level 15 before i made a mistake, i think i’ll be back for more :) really cool vibes, nice responsive ux. A+!

originally the plan was to have the player harvest the flowers and plant more between storms, but i simply ran out of time.

if you ever think to yourself “make a game engine and also use it to make a game for a jam at the same time”, maybe reconsider ;)

couldn’t figure this one out. place seeds… which seeds?

nothing i click seems to do anything :( the arrows for carnation/etc dont appear to be pointing at anything

It happens for me every time :) I dont do anything specific, just click ‘run game’

great polish on this one. i missed the screenshot where the fish breaks the mine and so that took me way too long, but had a good time :)

something up with the web build making it look like this, which made it quite hard to play. great art though!

couldn’t seem to collect pollen AND fire at the enemies so i just kinda kept losing the small amount of pollen i could collect. maybe i’m just too slow😅

really great art, but just so incredibly hard, couldn’t beat the first bit, not sure if there was more haha

very cute idea and good colour choices. something was up with the web build where the transitions were offset and i could see ‘outside’ the stage, but it didn’t prevent playing

there’s a power function that reduces the time between each lightning, basically making each storm have more lightning in the same time period. tuning this proves difficult with little play testing time. tbh for a game jam i’d rather err on the side of easier :)

glad you liked it!

Cute! tbh you had me as soon as i saw the cat ☺️

Probably the best I’ve played so far! At first I was like “I don’t get it” kinda stuck near the bottom, but… wow. 10 minutes later and I’m still at it 😂 Great job!

Wow the art is just off the charts on this one. Did you put together a shader to make it happen or are we looking at the raw art? Pretty amazing!

Really cool idea. I found it hard to get enough fuel, maybe just my RNG luck. Nice tight controls and entertaining loop!

would be cool to put the original back up here for posterity

haha totally bonkers! great game ;)

Great game, I really enjoyed it, but I wasn’t really good at it 🫥

pico8 always so charming… well, with a deft hand it is anyway :) love it!

did you use Karl’s template to do the web build and all that?

had a lot of fun and ended up with a score of 12860, loop 30 before i had to call it. so hilarious and great to have like 10 bullets wide in a near constant stream going up the screen! very cool and satisfying graphics and tilty effect!

nearly ragequit that last level but managed it! great game

nice to see odin represented! got up to 8 before i had to gun it to avoid a crash and got lost in deep space ;)

i got befuddled by level 13. it was great fun!

very cute and playable

i saw you working on this in the progress channel! turned out so fun. i recognised Deep-Fold Pixel Planet Generator – that thing is great! did you integrate it or generate planets ‘offline’?

a lot of fun, would be great to see an expanded version with more levels and more powerups

frozen bombs dont explode so go ham on ’em! ;) thanks for playing

agreed – ran out of time 😩 glad you enjoyed it, thanks for playing!

the hype is deserved. great game, great art

just really, really cool

i agree, in retrospect, should have eased up on the difficulty a bit. you really have to draw loops like a maniac to keep up. easier with a mouse

thanks for playing!

the distribution of bits is based on a noise texture so blame the RNG! haha 😜 thanks for playing!

i felt like i had a knack for it, feels very natural!

wow the vibes are off the charts on this one! really well done!

(p.s. i also have a cat who thinks luggage is a bed 😉)

wow very tight platforming. super meat boy vibes! unfortunately i am awful at platformers and struggled, but it was great fun nonetheless ;)
