How does the game fit the theme?
The player is looking to become human again, and for that, he has to risk yourself in a haunted house, looking for a skull-shaped Special Cookie. Before the special cookie, he also will find power-ups named Skullkies (skull-shaped cookies as well, lol)
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
I haven't used any assets which are not made by me.

Really nice game, props on giving feedback on players input. Such a solid game for just a week of development. Congrats.
Thank You so much for playing my game :D, I'm Sorry about some bugs, I already fixed them but I can't upload The update yet cause The rating period
I feel you man!
I originally thought this was going to be a Binding of Isaac type of dungeon crawler, but it turns out to be a stealth game instead. What a twist. The idea is very simple yet enjoyable, just avoid enemies and collect the keys. The graphics are simplistic but do convey everything well. I especially like the map transition that goes very smoothly, and I guess that contributes to the enjoyment of playing the game.
Not much to say more, just that for a minor nitpick I dislike how invincibility was presented in the game, as the current iframe doesn't really seem to correlate to the blue blinking, and I took damage when I am certain there should be quite some time left for the invincibility to wear off. Other than that, the game is quite polished at its current state. Keep up the good work!
Thank You so much for your detailed Review, I'm Sorry about The invencibility power-up, actually I only realized that when I Saw my nephew playtesting my game, but that was after The deadline to fix bugs. So I already fixed in here, but only can upload after The rating period, so thanks for your feedback, and I'm Sorry for this bug
A simple but very well executed and polished game with no bugs. It was fun exploring the different areas, that's a big map. The sounds and atmosphere with the light growing as you got power-ups was really well done, it made me want to risk going after every light. Great job, the game is simple yet really enjoyable
Thank You so much for playing and for your kind words, I'm Glad You could enjoy The time playing my game :D
I finished the game it took some time.
I like the pull it had on me, the lighting and invincibility are nice add ons.
I felt the health is a bit too generous.
The dangers became a bit predictable at some point so even variation in the timings of spikes and fire would be nice.
There are some balance issues that assume the entry point of the player ( the level at bottom left) I believe expects player to enter from the top and exit on the right, I entered from the right and faced an unavoidable enemy.
Congrats on a really nice release.
Thank you so much, I'm glad you liked. I'm sorry about the unavoidable enemies, you're sure, I made some rooms expecting the player would reach from an specific point, so I forgot to adjust to the other sides of the rooms, I'm preparing an update to fix that post-jam. Also I'm trying to balance the difficulty, many people related about the easiness of my game lol. Thank you so much for your detailed review, and I'll definitely try to do the thing about variation of timing in the traps.
Hey, coming here just to announce that I succesfully achieved to do the variation in the timings of spikes and fire traps, so I'll play a little bit with my level design, now I have more possibilities in placement, thanks again for your feedback
This is a really cute and fun to play retro style game, the sounds and visuals are very nice and it feels very polished overall.
The powerup system is really cool, but at first I thought they were actually harmful to you since they looked like skulls with different colors, and it was a bit difficult to tell which powerup does what, kinda had to experiment and find out.
The level design is really nice and detailed, each room was well done and the art fit the vibe of the game very nicely.
The map system was really good as well, its just that it was a bit difficult to tell rooms apart on the map, as everything except the door room looked about the same (not considering heights and widths) and I dont really have the best navigational skills so I did end up forgetting spots I wanted to come back to later 😅.
Overall great enjoyable game
Thank you so much for playing and for your detailed review :D. I can understand about the skulls lol, usually skulls represent danger, but not this time lol. I'm glad you liked the visuals and sounds, and specially the level design, it took me a good amout of time to design each room, but it was a really fun part of the development. About the map, I had an inspiration from the map of 1986 The Legend of Zelda, but I also have an alterative design that shows the rooms exactly how they are, but I ended preferring to follow my inspiration. I'm preparing a post-jam update to add some quality of life tweaks, for example, since you reach a room that has a key, even if you die, now the map shows an key Icon in the room. I think that will be useful. Thanks again :D
Woop woop! Made it!
Great game! Your level design is really good. It's gotta be tough to design so many different rooms, and for them all to feel distinct, but you pulled it off, since I could remember my way around ^_^ Really generous of you to make a thorough tutorial at the start. It's appreciated! Great work for a solo dev :)
Thank you so much for playing and review my game :D , it means a lot. I'm glad you liked the level design, it took me a while to make all of the rooms lol, but it was a fun part, I'm looking forward my next top-down game, cause it was really fun to do Skullkies. Btw I'm glad you liked the tutorial as well, it was my first one. Thanks again :D
Pretty big map for a game jam submission (bigger than I would expect, at least), I'm impressed 👍
Thank you so much :D, I tried to do a good amount of rooms for the dungeon, I'm glad you liked
It's simple, easy to navigate, and fund little dungeon crawler like game! The main issues for me is the enemy placing and health placement that quite a lot in each level. That made me tank all the damage freely and not thinking about the risk haha. And that's why i don't take the blue one too. Great game!
Thank You so much for your oriented feedback! Yeah I'm really convinced that I was too generous with The Green Skullkies... Turning The game too easy, but I'm Glad You liked the experience anyway. I'll try to do a better difficulty balance in Next time (maybe in a post-jam update).
A really nice game, love the idea! Some enemy placements felt a bit clanky to the point where I'd have to tank a hit just to reach the next room, but I guess that's what shield skulls are for. Nonetheless, a pretty solid game!
Thank you so much for playing :D . Yep, I'm sorry about that, the problem is I placed the enemies keeping in mind the player would reach the room from a direction, and I forgot to adjust what would happen if he reached the room from the other side.
No worries, the deadline does mess with the perception of your game quite a bit, so it's all good! Still a fun game to play! :D
I managed to reach the end. Good job. Only thing I’ll say, it would be nice if we don’t get hit by enemies when the map is open.
Thank you so much for playing. Yeah it was a bad choice to allow damage while showing map. The day before the deadline I tried to change that but I got some problems, so I kept how it is. But post-jam maybe I'll do an update to change it, thx for your feedback :D
This was a small but good experience, maybe too easy and generous with the HP and the invincibility haha
It’s nice to see a game like this in a jam, it can be easily overscooped with many mechanics or secret paths, even with the size of the map, but it’s good to see this was finished, also great to see you made all the assets you use, it can be hard but it feels great to do! :)
I like the tutorial, maybe the font was a bit crushed or it felt wider than normally does, I like the introductions of the cookies in a simple way and when the actual game starts, it’s nice to see them scattered around the map, also good way to signal the player the activation of each trap and the way the audio of the monster gets louder the closer they are to you. Good way to use the blue skulls, just be careful when putting mechanics like this because it can get out of hand quickly making the game unfair or too easy, like some parts at the right part of the map
The story fits with the theme, it’s small but would be nice to see it more in the gameplay, for how much help you put in the map, it didn’t feel much the risk of going around a haunted house, maybe putting more yellow cookies in risky places would help with this idea, or that the more light you get, more hard the game is, or more enemies spawn
Also, in the tutorial, it didn’t have a song and I thought the game would be songless, but it was nice to see there was 1 when the game started, one bug I found is when you decide to replay the game with the button at the end of the game, the state of the game stays the same so all the doors are unlocked, you have all the light and the special cookie at the end isn’t there making the game unbeatable
Outside that, I didn’t find any bugs or something bad aside from being too easy, but it’s ok because it can feel a bit refreshing when games try to be hard or in a jam where some games can be all or nothing haha
Nice game! :)
Wow!!! That's a really really incredible feedback! Thank you so much, you made an amazing gift to me lol, I love to read comments and feedback much more than I like ratings. About the bug you mentioned, actually it's not a bug, it's a bad choice of button lol. I wanted to give the chance to the player explore the map after the end of the game, in case he want to, but to put a Restart icon like that it's an amazingly bad choice, and since the player turn back to a little monster, it doesn't look like a post-ending game. Actually if you really want to play again you had to open the map and go back to menu, really inconvenient, I know lol. Thank you so much for the tips about new ideas to turn the game more challenging, I'll definitely keep that in mind when I'm doing an update or a new game in this style. Thank you so much for your feedback again, and yep, I was afraid many players would rage quit my game so I turned it easier, but I definitely passed the line. I'm loving the fact that I got many comments with really useful and helping feedback, tysm
I see, yeah, picking a reset icon wasn’t great haha
And don’t worry about making difficult games, I did 1 rage game in the last jam I did and people only get angry when it’s poorly done or very annoying, which in my case I did some parts that fit in those 2 but was on purpose xD
I got some feedback and resources to get better because they thought the game with polish could be very fun, so my recommendation is just make games with the difficulty you want and not think much about it, as long it can be beat, it should be ok :)
Nice! Thank you so much for the tips :)
Hey, just mentioning that I thought better and I decided to change the restart button to a home button so the player can go back to the Main Menu, actually there's no reason to continue exploring the dungeon after the end lol. Thanks for your feedback again. Update only after the rating period, btw
Very cool game. You could ramp up the difficulty. Otherwise a very good experience.
Thank you so much for playing and for the feedback :) Yeah I think it's too easy rn, I'll have to do something about it after the jam
Take that purple creatures
Thank You so much for playing xD
Pretty cool game. Just wish the skulls were a bit more fleshout, like, the blue one is the one with a cool room showing a little puzzle on how to use it... the others kinda do not make a big difference.... Also, it is a bug that when you finish the game and you click restart the games does not restart?? it just teleports you to the start room and the doors are still open...
But overall, a pretty cool game and polished, the art is pretty good, kinda similar to the game I made for this jam, a dungeon top down game!! but yours is more polished than mine!
Thank You so much for your excelent feedback. I'm Glad You liked the blue skullkies, I'm Sorry You didn't feel The same about yellow and Green Skullkies. Talking about The ending, it's not a bug, I wanted to let The player continue walking around The Dungeon after beat, but I think I made a poor choice putting a Restart icon in there. Also, in a similar way, when You die in The game, You are teleported to The start Room and don't loose anything, I was thinking that players would be upset If loose progress after some minutes seeking The keys and increasing their lights. I think this turns The game too easy, but decreases The chance of a rage quit lol. Thanks for your feedback, it's cool to have a chance to speak about my design choices.
Hey, I came here just to tell that to a post-jam update I changed the restart button to a home button, so the player can go back to the main menu. Actually there's no reason to continue exploring the dungeon after the end, so it's better to actually restart the game instead of what's happening right now in the game. Thanks for your feedback again.
The tutorial is super clear and gamefeel is well designed. Fun to play and cute character! Congrats~
Thank you so much for playing and for the kind words :D
really enjoyable!! the walking sound got a little irritating after a while, but the gameplay is fun :)
Thank you so much :D Yep, I made a wrong decision with the walking sound, I'm sorry about that
Just made an update to remove it rn. Not the best solution, but at least it's less irritating lol. Thanks for your feedback
Fun game! I enjoyed it and won first try. The amount of powerups allows for a fast playthrough. I like how the map works, but I think some sprites appear behind the map layout right?
Thank you so much :D. Yeah it's a little problem in the map I forgot to fix, and it was an easy fix, btw... Thanks for a reminder, I'm gonna fix that when I have the time
Hey, just made an update to fix this issue with the map. Thank you so much for your feedback :D. Glad we still have this extra time to fix bugs
This was a fun one! Made it to the end and became a Real Boy again :) The various powerups and level design was great!
Thank you so much for playing :) . I'm glad you liked it
Very fun little game. The character walking sound got a little tiring after a while, but I otherwise really enjoyed the audio of them.
I’m a sucker for the nostalgia of pixel animation anyway, but I think you did a great job with these too.
Well done!
Thank you so much :D. I'm glad you liked, I'm trying to get better at pixel art. Sadly I didnt think about a better sound to walking, I'm sorry about that
Thanks for your feedback again, I just made an update to remove the walking sound. Not the best solution, I know, but irritating the players it's definitely something I don't want to. Maybe post jam I make an update to add a better sound
You’re so very welcome! I know how helpful targeted feedback is for me, so I thought it would be worth sharing that little bit. I genuinely enjoyed the rest of the game though so it certainly wasn’t enough “ruin” the experience. :)
I'm glad reading this, thank you so much again :D
Really nice game! well done!
Thank you so much :D
