OK. Maybe one of my favorite game in this jam. The type of game I put in a collection to give it another try, just for fun. As the creative guy of my team, I really enjoy the graphic atmosphere. The pixel art is incredible. This is a solid entry here.

Developer

I'm really glad you enjoyed the art! Thanks so much for playing, I really appreciate it.

Lovely visuals and story. Controls were a bit weird, but the game was still solid.

Great jam submission!

Thank you!

This was our favorite from the jam! Such cool visuals and sound, and the story flows in a perfect rythm, great job!

Developer

Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it!

Gorgeous visuals, especially the backgrounds. I like the varied character designs. The spikes parkour took me a lot longer than it should have to get used to, but once I did, it was a reasonably engaging challenge. The guessing game with the pumpkin guy was a bit obnoxious; I'm not sure if I was just unlucky, but it was almost my fourth guess. Again, great visuals. The game wasn't exactly scary, but the horror aesthetic and creep factor were definitely present.

Cool submission.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing and for the feedback! Sorry about the pumpkins, the bottom ones is a bit visually obstructed.

Creepy and cute! Loved the pumpkin counting challenge. My only real issue is with jumping over obstacles, between the angle & hitboxes it's a real crapshoot, and it takes a while for the scene to reload and let me try again.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Yeah, jumping over the spike seems to be a bit of an issue, sorry about that. and the death animation as well, i will make it skippable next time.

It is a really well polished creepy-cute looking yet dark game. The art is gorgeous. I liked the weapon switching for different situations. Only thing, the thorny obstacles was a little hard to be distinguished from the background. The end dialogue was really cool . Excellent job.

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback!

I'll make the spike more noticeable next time, maybe add some animation to it.

Great pixel art and atmosphere!

Developer

Thanks!

The jumping is very clunky and I kept dying because it fell or walked into spikes. Also, you should put a collider at the left of each scene because I think you can just walk offscreen endlessly.

Still, very charming game. One of the best pixel art games I've seen. You could probably make a full game with the amount of assets you already have here. There is a lot of potential.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! Yeah, there's a bit of an issue with the jump command response. There's actually a wall on the left, but I think I placed it too far.

It has Red Riding Hood with a rifle, what else do you want?

Really good pixel art and atmosphere, pretty impressive for a 7-day jam. The pumpkin counting puzzle is a bit tricky since the underground pumpkins separated by roots can look like a single big pumpkin. Also, in the area with the 2 eye logs right next to each other, attacking the closest one to you somehow results on the other one being damaged.

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing!

You're right, I limit the target to one and didn't account for the "closest" target, so the damage ends up hitting whichever target was added last to the list.

The visuals really shine! It was fun but I got stuck on the screen with all the eyes after seeing the other girl because I kept dying to seemingly nothing and couldn't go back.

Developer(+1)

Oh, that’s a new one! and it seems to be happen in the early level, I’ll look into it. Sorry about that, and thanks a lot for trying it out!

One of the better looking 2D platformers submitted. I like the art. the death animation is nice too but having to sit through it every time I touch a spike thing is painful.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I'll figure out a way to fix that issue.

The visuals were breathtaking - and I loved the parallax effect. Only thing missing is more maps which basically correlates to more time - really beautiful piece for 7 days. I love the theme and the sprites are adorable as well as the shading effects. Hope you continue the story!

Developer

Thank you very much!

Solid game. The amount of quality visuals were quite impressive, in addition to looking just lovely, and the gameplay was enjoyable. The puzzles were neat and simple, although I do admit I had trouble counting the pumpkins. I really like how the spike trees could be triggered by the gun, but the reloading animation prevents you from ducking, forcing you to use another strategy; very clever. All in all, good game. I enjoyed myself. (I also laughed quite a bit the first time I got exploded, and when getting the gun)

I would recommend making duck [S] instead of [F], seeing as it's more intuitive and so that it's easier for the player to reach. I had to change my hand position every time I wanted to duck. Also, I feel that the 'choose your direction' thing at the end of each room was unnecessary; I always just picked East and got there just fine, so it feels as if it doesn't do anything.

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback! Happy to hear you enjoyed it.

You're right, the duck should've been "S" instead of "F." As for the direction, it's actually meant to not always pop up, and give players a little sense of being "lost in the forest." I made it always pop up during playtesting and somehow forgot to switch it back.

Loved it! Great concept, great execution. The forest was so spooky

Cute and creepy. The bit that really got me was the fade-to-black at the end ... I clicked in panic and now I don't know what I did or to whom (trying not to give anything away!) ... now I have cliff-hanger anxiety!

Developer

Thanks for playing all the way through! Really appreciate it.

Amazing work, love the horror vibe for the classic  little red riding hood!

I love this pixel art so much! I didn't get that far - did manage to get past the pumpkin guy though.

If you can fix the jumping issue, I think this has a lot of potential post-jam!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for giving it a try!

The artwork and atmosphere here is incredible and I love the twist on the tale. At first I wasn't entirely sure if this was like a Legend of Zelda style maze where I needed to keep track of which directions I went but it didn't take long to understand what was going on. Aside from me being stubborn and using the rifle in a few places where I should have just used the axe, the difficulty felt balanced and the challenge variety well paced. Great work!

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing and sharing your feedback!
