What a unique idea! The style is very nice, I really vibed with the radio's music when it played, and the monster's design looks great. The gameplay is fairly simple, I wish the monster was a bit more active or had something up it's sleeve to mix you up.
Apart from that, the game was fun to play!
I like how there are two radios so when you hear the music you still don't know which way it's going to come from until your frantically rush to both to hear which is playing. Nice touch!
Lusted? Sexy?
Very creative gameplay loop. The game was also the perfect duration for a jam, in my opinion. Not being able to see the monsters because the door was occluding them was clever; it added a lot to the tension as I had to guess what was just on the other side. The ending was a great addition.
The whole door hiding spot thing was a pretty good way to make sure the player doesn't see the monster and let their fear do the work..
Looked pretty good as well did a nice job on making it feel like I was in a sweaty basement..
I played on web build and I found a tiny little bit of jank with the mouse a few times snaping from one place to another, but it didn't really break things so it's all good. I don't know if that's your game or something with my laptop but still. (edit I learned your game wasn't the only one that did this so yeah, not your bad likely mean or unity's)
After I built the weapon, I avoided the radio it was telling me to use so I'd see them then I held down left mouse button.. It just went black and dumped me to the titlescreen.. That means I won right? If so.. I understand time limits and all. But a little "you win" couldn't take that long to make, yeah?
So to sum it up.. It could use a little polish but all around I liked it and thought it was well designed with good art and sound.
There’s a death animation at the end, it uses physics so it’s kinda laggy, meaning your computer took to long to load it and just went to the title screen. That part could definitely use some optimization.
This one really made me tense, which is hard (I am very desensitized to horror lol). I think the fact that I didn’t see what the monster looked like while hiding behind the door made it incredibly creepy. Great sound design! I think it could use a bit more fanfare at the end when I blast the monster with my weapon, but other than that, awesome entry!
Edit: I did not see the monster explode at the end, did I do something wrong?
The monster dying isn’t super obvious, it basically looks like it fell (the parts just fall to the floor.
Nice little game! Really like the radio sound, and the black out is quite scary. I didn't really need the blueprint, though, since each part can only be slot in a specific interaction point. Still, really enjoy it!
I liked the game but wish there was a bit more to it! I think your tutorial gave away a bit too much, horror games are about fear (usually) and if the player knows exactly what they need to do without figuring anything out it can take away a bit of that fear.
"The tutorial told me to stand here when the monster comes and I'll be safe!" Even something sly like, "Pay Attention to the Radios" would be a bit better! You have clearly marked places on the floor too so the player should be able to figure it out! Or show you mechanics instead like the Radio in Silent Hill 1. You hear that crackling and not sure why but as you approach it a monster crashes through the glass!
But really good effort I did enjoy it :)
really cool
I love the style and the overall gameplay
it is quite simple but makes up for it because of the big clanker
good job!
Similiar game to my game! Liked the concept a lot and the making of the radios.
The only critique is I thought it was too hard in the start and wish more stuff got introduced as I continued playing there was only one door to start with.
Otherwise very awesome and very scary!
Wow this one was cool! I really enjoyed the positional audio, was really satisfying to be able to dodge the monster. I would have liked if the game was a bit more faster paced, but other than that, good work!
Nice! I kinda liked being able to crank the power when hiding on left side too.
I bet the monster must've been very stressed and confused seeing the weapon assemble itself more and more each time he checked the room...
Very fun little game! Reminds me a lot of fnaf and the golden era of its fangames. The gameplay loop was easy enough to understand and really enjoyable at the same time.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. The inspiration was actually FnAF 1 through 4. We even debated whether or not we would let the player move.
Great project! One of those that can be called a “horror” game in this game jam. Good luck!
Absolutely terrifying. Scariest game I've played this jam so far.
Love the PS1-era graphics, the jaunty music, the discordant sound effects.
All the moving parts work very well together.
Great premise, love the monster design. Is this a radiohead reference?
Actually, no. I first designed the monster to be an air conditioning unit. But our programmer thought it was a radio, and I decided that was a lot cooler, lol.
This game spooked me really out, for a game jam very polished. Well done! For me personally, I thought it would have been more stressing if i had to assemble the parts myself by putting them on the table and using the image as reference, without the game giving me the place prompt. Also I found it made the game easier that i could crank the generator while standing in the hiding spot of one of the doors. It would have stressed me out more if I couldnt reach it while watching the time run out.
I enjoyed this game, I liked the way I constantly needed to be doing things. I just think it needs some polish, making it clear you won and make it clear taht you need to place the weapon parts off one another.
The radio mechanic was very good, the first time the monster appeared it scared me a lot, but after that the scare factor went down. Anyways, IT'S a very solid horror game. It has a lot innovative mechanics which make the game fun. GOOD JOB, DEVS!
Really cute game, I love that you never get a good look at the monster until you've either really messed up or are about to blow it up. Hard a good time with this one, nice work!
