This one's alright. The map feels a bit empty and some feedback feels missing to the player, like the stamina and when your torch is about to go flat completely. The darkness and tension was neat. I would've liked to see a bit more sound design.
The player looks decent, but it looks a bit weird against the perspective of the building you're travelling through. Also the flashlight and non flashlight views are a bit confusing.
Decent concept overall.
I didn't encounter any bugs in the web version. I liked the art and the general concept, but without a map, there is no hope for me to complete this game. I also didn't hear any music play. Check out Wick Editor for these type of game jams in the future. Best of luck.
Unlike many other commenters here, I didn't run into any bugs regarding the web dev version! I like the art of the main character, and the menus/systems all seem to be implemented pretty well. My main issue comes with the fact that I found the process of walking around to be very boring, and I felt that I lacked any incentive to play or discover new paths. This is still a good submission overall, though, and for being made in a single week, I think it's worth praising! Great job and great game!
The limited field of view and the flickering of the flashlight really made this feel stressful in a good way! I played the web version and I don't believe I experienced any bugs (definitely none of the ones others mentioned here); although, I wasn't able to complete the game. The time to walk back to where you last died and try another path was just a bit too long for me to stick with it past a few playthroughs but I really like what you were going for. I think you've got a great atmosphere here, great work!
The web version needs alot of work (It's not good)
Like the game, audio of this game is the highlight and environment also great
Just need more polish and it would be a great game
Amazing job overall!
I know it is optimized for a downloaded version but there were some issue in the web browser that made it quite difficult to play the game. The flashlight would occasionally stop moving or the game would freeze and knock itself out of fullscreen.
Thanks for the feedback. It was my first attempt at making a web build, so I wasn't sure how it would turn out. I'll definitely do my best to improve it in the future
So i liked the main mechanic of moving the mouse in a circle it kinda bugged a little but it was ok. the you can run option gave me fear so i liked that detail. I was a bit lost while navigating the map so a map button would be nice, and i died for nt having bateries alot. i think the bugs came cause i played the web version so take that in mind. Overall good game
Thanks for playing and leaving some feedback!
i played the web version and I encountered several issues with the UI. Sometimes, menus do not close properly and when I pressed a few buttons, the "do you want to really leave the game" notification got stuck on screen.
So I really was not able to play that far before quitting. But I think I would have liked it without the bugs.
Thanks for giving it a shot anyway. I'll definitely look more into why those bugs happen in the web version
One of the few games that really nailed the horror atmosphere! The art is pretty I especially love the title screen art, the color palette is really nice. As others have already mentioned the flashlight not following the mouse correctly, was a bit distracting, but otherwise great work!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked the atmosphere of the game
The flashlight concept and sound design work very well. There's a sense of danger nearby. I also liked the visual.
Thanks for playing!
interesting concept and flashlight is done well, creates some tensions and you need to work around it, however it was hard to get an idea of how much battery was left. the same issue with stamina I was just running until it stopped because there was no feedback to the player
other than that solid work! :)
Thanks for playing! Yeah, I was kind of aiming for the unknown battery life to be an additional scare factor, as in the player would be worried how much light they have left and whether they'll be able to find additional batteries on time.
Pretty cool game looks very pretty, i had problem fulscreening it the itch fullscreen seems to override the unity fullscreen and just fills the screen with black? maybe its a problem on my side.
Nah, it's 90% game's fault. I have to experiment more and learn how to properly make web builds, so it's highly probable that the resolution is bugged. Thanks for giving the game a shot!
I think the atmosphere of the game is very cool, I like the main character's design, and also the animations are pretty well made. Good job!
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the atmosphere!
Using this perspective along with the flashlight’s directional control makes the game really scary. It gives that uneasy feeling that something might jump out from behind if you don’t shine the light there. Very creative!
However, I was a bit confused about one thing. I understand that the flashlight can go out and turn back on, but does it also have limited battery life? I’d recommend adding a small UI element to show the flashlight’s battery life. It would really help the player.
Still, considering the limited time you had, you did a great job!
Well, it might've been a bold move from me, but I was aiming for the uncertainty of whether there's a limited battery or not to be an additional tension factor for the player to worry about.
Thanks for playing and providing some feedback!
This had a really good atmosphere. The torch flickered out right after I found some blood splatter on the floor, so that was spooky!
As others have said, there's an issue with the flashlight field not following the mouse, but otherwise I had fun. looking forward to some post-jam updates!
Thanks for playing! I'm glad that the game let you experience such a cool moment
Really loved the art style and the idea, hope to play a full game in the future!
Thanks! I'll definitely let you know here when I update the game.
I played the browser version and didn't get any issues (that I know of). Overall, I loved the art style and the premise of the game. I feel it could have more dialogs or things to interact with, but I don't think it's bad at all! Maybe I just got way too interested in the characters, lol. I also think it could use more sounds indicating the character's state, like stamina, or an indicator of how much battery we have. Not knowing it made it a bit difficult, yet I liked learning from my mistakes and replaying it more carefully.
The flashlight is a bit hard to control but I got used to it.
Very good game, I had fun!
Thanks for playing and providing the feedback! Well, as for the flashlight battery, the light's flickering was actually an indicator of how much battery you have. It would flicker after certain amounts were depleted.
I hope there could be a light source that always illuminates the main character, because sometimes I can only see the path ahead and the flashlight, which can be a bit inconvenient.
Also, adding more sound effects, like footsteps, would enhance the immersion and atmosphere!
Overall, this is a good work — keep it up!
Thanks for playing and providing the feedback
I like the atmosphere and the art a lot. I didn’t get that far because all light completely went out after I entered the first door. A game with great art like this would heavily benefit by having some characters to talk to. Narrative horror games with character art like this tend to do well on itch.io, so I hope to see a fuller version!
Well, good news, there is a character to talk to, you just didn't get to it.Thanks for playing, I'm sure you won't be disappointed when the full version drops after the jam ;)Cool game! Really liked the character art.
yay, i'm glad you liked it!
