I really like the art of this game, it's super cozy and lovely! Very interesting how you adapted the jam's theme with the music looping and even the possibilities we have, just like a MIDI software!

Additionally, our character Mic the Raccoon's comments during the game are super fun haha! Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

Mic turned up fashionably late on the third day and was hurriedly put into the game...

If you liked the art our artist has also worked really hard on Squarepinski (check it out on steam) :D

Submitted

art style is very cute lil racoon pretty good for less tha 4 days

Developer

Thanks for playing!

If you liked the art check out our artists game on steam: Squarepinski :)

Cool idea. The intro has quite a lot to click through but I guess if you weren't familiar with stuff like that it'd be kinda good. Nice take on the theme too! And satisfying to play. Also your art is awesome! And I love how everything all fits the like, raccoon theme. The drums were made of wood and rocks and the notes were bugs. I loved it! Nice work!

Also I'd appreciate feedback on my submission if you get a chance!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

We did originally have an even more in depth and interactive tutorial in mind but the time crunch hit hard...

Really pleased you spotted the amount of detail we tried to cram in and to keep it all tied together! If you liked the art check our Squarepinski on steam, another project by our very talented artist.

Submitted

Okay cool! I will!

Awesome game! I had a lot of fun when I play music with it XD. and I really like its cute art style and UI design! Like turning crossbows or axes into instruments is so genius, love this design so much

Developer

Thanks for playing!

You spotted the Brutal Legends homage.... which is referencing Guns n Roses... which is a take on the axe etc etc XD

Glad you enjoyed it, a lot of time was spent tweaking the UI to get the balance right. If you liked the art check out our artist's other project on steam: Squarepinski.

Man. These guys will clap for anything.

Really enjoyed it. My little tune is still rocking around in my head. Nicely done :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

Don't forget to credit Mic the Racoon when you become a big shot musician! :D

This was super cute. lost a bit of time just making beats before even realizing i should be placing tents hehe. nice job!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

The soundcheck covered more of the gameplay but we didn't have time to make the main festival unclickable until you had soundchecked :) Check it out for more cuteness!

If you liked the art our artist has done amazing work with a game being released soon on steam: Squarepinski.

really novel game idea, haven't seen it through the jam yet! could definitely have a stronger sense of progression. also make it clear how berries are gained from the actions of the player. enjoyed it though, what an interesting idea! well done!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

We did make the choice to hide the berry mechanics from the player to encourage play as apposed to optimisation, however seems to be a running theme in the feedback so will look to add it in if we develop further :)

Am not much of a music guy but this is fun and  interesting! Great art style and cool take too. Great job!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

We used a d major pentatonic scale so hopefully any notes you threw together should have sounded good :)

If you like the art check out the demo of Squarepinski  on steam; our artist did all the art for it and it's a similar vibe.

Super fun experience, great art style and immediately engaging! Could be cool to have some instruments be bought with points, to help the sense of progression. Really enjoyed it, and could see it being really fleshed out to have you build and manage a whole festival!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

We had to cut so much content as the programming only started to fall into place on literally the last day 😅 instrument upgrades, food/merch tents, rocker Vs raver Vs hippie mechanics etc etc

Still, really happy with what we did get done! Glad you enjoyed it :)

Submitted

Pretty shure this unlocked a new hyperfocus in music  prod :>

Developer(+1)

What better reason to produce music other than for hundreds of forest critters? :)

Submitted

Nice game! I absolutely love how cute the characters looks! The game manages to be fun, even for people that don't know much about music, had some issues with placing, and especially removing notes. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

So many bugs as we updated it about five times in the last hour... Still glad you managed to play! We used a d major pentatonic scale to make it theoretically only make tunes that 'worked'. :)

Submitted

This was very cute! I enjoyed the music aspect of the game. Probably enjoyed it a bit too much that I forgot to put up the tents.

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Ah music doesn't need tents. Just a a big open field and vibes 😎 Hope you still managed to pay that NAN tax!

Submitted

Such a cute little game and you really made it easy for someone like me who has no idea how to write music to make something that sounded ok! Loved the little animal characters and the writing as well, nice work :)

Developer

Thanks for playing!

We really tried to structure it to be cosy and accessible so really nice to hear your comments :D If you really liked the art check out Squarepinski on Steam for a fuller cosy puzzle game with the same artist :)

Submitted

I really like the concept of a game centered around creating music, and I was really impressed by all the different instruments to play with. Art was really charming too. Awesome job

Developer

Thanks for playing!

We had a whole backlog of instruments to add in but each one had to be manually wired in with 4 different lengths for each note (28 bist of code for each one) so we cut them to save time.

If you like the art check our Squarepinski on Steam for more from our excellent artist :)

I really liked the vibe of it and had a lot of fun throwing a little song together. For some reason I had some trouble removing notes. Clicking them didn't make them go away immediately. Maybe I misunderstood something about the mechanics?

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

There where a lot of known bugs on release (including a sticky button with the notes) but we simply ran out of time. classic sticky jam issues. Another fun bug is one of the notes has an entire orchestra playing instead of one note... see if you can find it :p

Submitted

Really nice! I love the idea of putting a whole festival on while composing tunes. Super rich idea with a lot of potential. And the forest critter theming is really sweet.  I wanted to be able to use 8th notes for the melodic instruments as well but I understand why it was limited to the drums. Well done!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Yeah we had to hard wire each note in (so 28 per instrument) otherwise it would have been even tighter on time... If we give it another run after the jam definitely will be upgraded for 8th notes :)

The critters do have a great festival vibe, plus they leave the forest clean after!

Submitted

Cute game - I feel like I made a catchy tune without having to try too hard. Put a smile on my face. Great work!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

We set all the instruments to a d major pentatonic scale so players could just throw a bunch of notes in and it would sound good :)

Glad you enjoyed it.

These little animals are so cute! Such an adorable art style and very creative! I really love seeing the little creatures running around on the screen, and I think all the tents look fantastic too! Plus, it's really relaxing to play. Good job!

If your really liked the artwork check out Squarepinski on steam :) our artist put a lot into that game and it's also very much a cosy feel!

Wow, that's awesome! I'll go check it out.(〃'▽'〃)

Looks and sounds great. I ended up just playing with the sequencer the whole time and wasn’t really paying much attention to the rest of the game haha. Maybe some sort of phase mechanic where the you only get one instrument track at a time and slowly build up the song would give the player more of a chance to interact with everything else going on and help the pacing a bit. Also, really good work on the characters and dialogue, very charming!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

We intended to add in buyable instruments and different types of tent but simply ran out of time :)

Glad you enjoyed what we got done!

Submitted

This is the only game I've played that used music loops for the theme! Incredibly cute and fun.

Developer

Thanks for playing!

I have had a hunt through and not seen any that have done it like us so far :)

All the cuteness credit goes to our excellent artist!
