Nice concept for the jam and theme.
I did needed to think good and read good how to play at first but after I understood it was fun.
Solid jam entry.đź’Ş

Thanks for the kind words

It took quite a while to properly understand how it works, partially because I didn’t notice you could talk to the guy until attempt 3.

I ended up optimizing a bit too much, and grinded all the materials for both elevators on the first floor since second floor was a bit agressive and the limited ammo mechanics made it quite easy to find yourself in a situation from which you can’t recover. My game actually suffers from a similar problem, if you remember!

This was a jam-packed game, the overscoping is noticable but you made it all work.

I got the same bug that Guds did.

Well done!

Thanks for the kind words! It was my goal to make some hard to get out of moments as i invisoned choosing what weapons to pick kind of like  a puzzle game + using your own playstyle

great game! I enjoyed it a lot, the theme fits very well, and it has a lot of content for a jam game! I had an issue where restarting after dying froze my game, but aside from that, just some more polish and this can be a sellable game

Developer

Thanks for the kind words,as for the issue it has happened to me many times and i couldnt find the root of the issue so i just left it like that,i am happy you enjoyed my game!

Turning everyday office items into weapons? Instantly fun.

The procedural dungeon setup is a cool idea, and the office theme gives it a quirky charm.
I do wish the controls were explained in-game — didn’t even realize I could switch weapons with E at first.
But overall, it’s a solid and creative demo for just 10 days of work!

That said, the game might be cool, but it’s quite confusing and a bit too complicated. At the start, there were a lot of issues trying to understand what was expected of me, and it only got harder from there.
Maybe I’m just not skilled enough to grasp the core, but I gave it a shot… and didn’t manage to get it.
Overall, the idea is amazing, but the execution is lacking. Good luck with other projects!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback, yeah the controls should have been explained but i have updated the description with the controls i forgot to mention in the game,I am aware that the game is pretty hard and will definitly improve it with your suggestions if i update the game further

Hey Jgamedev123, your game has a really cool idea! Turning items into weapons and/or use it as material is very fitting to the theme. Unfortunately I died in the tutorial already because I didn't notice that ammo was limited. Also the game crashed/froze after dying 3 times.

Overall a cool game! Good job

Developer

Thanks for the kind words, yeah i assume most people advance dialog with spacebar instad of enter, which consumes ammo

What a great concept! Without a doubt, the use of the theme was very well applied here — I really liked the mechanic you created where everything can be used as a resource. The upgrade system through sacrificing life adds a lot of strategy to the game, forcing us to make tough (and wise) decisions depending on the current situation we’re in.

The art and music are simple, but they match the game's vibe really well. I’d even say they give it a unique touch. The gameplay isn’t hard, and after a few tries, you quickly get the hang of it, making the progress smoother and more satisfying.

Something interesting I noticed is how you reused a lot of assets, which probably made maintaining the code easier and definitely saved time — great performance!

At the start of the game, I ran into a small issue: I accidentally used up all my magic shots while progressing through the dialogue, which left me with no ammo to defeat the monster table. And after dying to it, I respawned somewhere else instead of where the tutorial originally happened. It didn’t necessarily make the learning curve harder, but it could be a bit frustrating if your player is very detail-oriented.

I’d also recommend always adding borders to text elements that don’t have a background sprite, like the “X” to interact with NPC. Since it’s pure white, it kind of blended in with the background a bit — not unreadable, but definitely something that could be improved.

The overall level design was also great — it reminded me of some old SNES games I used to play. Total nostalgia, haha.

Just a reminder: all the “criticisms” here are meant as small suggestions, because the game is honestly a lot of fun. You did a great job! Good luck with the jam.

Developer

Thanks for the kind words, yeah i assumed that no one would die at the tutorial so i made the gameover just take you to level 1,which was in hindsight a dumb idea,I agree with everything you said and if I decide to update the game later i will add all your suggestions

Your theme is on point! This is a fun dungeon crawler. I very much felt like I was interacting with every object. I liked the creativity of breaking the table to make like a sword and shield. A lot of aspects were creative in general. Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words!Appreciate it

Overall a nice game though I could not seem to shoot the enemies and kept running out of ammo.

I understand there is some sort of crafting / strategy mechanics but I could not figure it out.

I loved it, the concept is awesome and really well executed. using the environment as weapons felt super creative and added a lot of depth to the gameplay. UI could use a bit of scaling work in different resolutions, but overall this was a really good work—great job!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words,i agree with you regarding the UI

Submitted

Very cool game, like the mechanic and idea, very good use of the enviroment like weapons, maybe check the UI, for the windowed all the elements were to big, check the responsive for the UI to play it in other resolutions x3.

Great job and great entry.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words,i agree with you and to be honest,i forgot to scale the UI,my bad there

I enjoyed this one! I can very clearly see the thought behind managing resources, as I found myself strategizing to break my weapons for material right at 1 use left, farming the printer with the gumball machine for easy paper, and mostly using Metal weapons (arguably the hardest element to obtain imo). Below is a list of things I noticed:

-Walking through a door with the umbrella equipped crashes the next level

-There are collisions on everything (Including the uncollected weapons), which leads to me getting boxed in by enemies and killed without being able to do anything (though with solid prep, can be avoided. I think this aids in the strategy, albeit punishing)

It also took me like 30 minutes in to realize I could see what the perks do just by hovering my mouse over it 💀💀💀💀 so I was juss sorta picking em at random at first lmao. that's just a me issue though, I think. Great game!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words, unfortunatly I dont know how to fix the bug

DAMN! This game is very nice! The enemies are well though of and there's a good amount of them. The theme was interpreted here perfectly. Extreme potential. Amazing job dude

Developer

Thanks a lot for the kind words man

Great use of the theme, and pretty ambitious project!

There is much potential here- I liked the procedurally generated levels, the idea behind the enemies, and the fact, that you really get to use (almost) everything.

I think that the game could use some more playtesting, and polish. For some reason I had two magic guns (one with 0 ammo). I think I'd prefer fot the magic gun to have a long cooldown instead of limited ammo, because you just get stuck, if you aren't presice with it.

Developer

Thanks for the nice words, the getting stuck is intended while the "2 magic guns" is just an UI bug,do you think this game could  be a good longer project?

Submitted

I think spinning a jam game into a longer project is very difficult, but, as I said- the ideas have potential. My advice is:

1. see what people in this jam say. What works, what doesn't work.

2. Leave the game for two or three weeks. Then play it again, and look at it with fresh eyes.

3. Then, either make it bigger, or start a new project, with what you learned.

Developer

Thanks a lot for the ideas!

Nice concept! Would have loved to see a more elaborate tutorial since its a bit difficult to grasp! I managed to kill the first monster, but was stuck after that.. maybe i didnt look in the right place? Anyway well done on the game, the concept is really unique and with a little bit more polish would be awesome to play :)

Developer

Thanks for the kind words,I agree with you also,if you go to the elevator you can go to the next level

Nice! I like the concept of how you can split up the table into different parts to use as a weapon.

Initially, I was a bit confused because I got stuck inside the table, killed by an enemy robot, and when I clicked restart, I ended up in a completely different map. The gameplay was a little hard to grasp for me and could have used a bit more polish. Perhaps a tutorial or more in-depth instructions would be useful?

One highlight for this game that did stand out to me was the music. It's great to see that you made it yourself, and I think it fits the game well. Great job on that :D

I also really enjoyed the sound effects, and this game was full of them. Adding corresponding sound effects to actions is a quick and easy way to add polish to your game, and you did this well.

While some of the art was really good and well drawn, the overall style was a bit inconsistent. Some of the objects had outlines while others didn't, which made it feel a little random.

This is a really creative entry brimming with potential. I enjoyed playing and love your unique interpretation of the theme - great work!

Developer

Thanks for all the kind words, there is a tutorial level, which is the level where you died ,i agree with you regarding polish and outlines

Submitted

Guess that's just a skill issue on my end then, thanks for clarifying :)

Submitted

Cool game! glad you finished it, I like the table splitting apart into many weapons and a shield, the game was to hard for me, but the theme use is perfect!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words , yeah the game is pretty hard lol

Submitted

The game is quite difficult but it's a very cool idea. The main issue I had was the limited ammo in the magic gun. There is just barely enough ammo to get enough resources for the elevator. Also sometimes the restart button will just turn the screen black and you have to restart the page to play again. I also think it would be helpful if you wrote down the controls in the description of the game  because it took me a long time to figure out that "e" was switch weapons. Overall, I can see the potential in this idea and it could be really cool with some more polishing!

Developer

Yeah,I'll just go update the page to say that E is to switch weapons ,while the limited ammo is intended so that the player has to think more about when to use a weapon, when to turn it into materials and if they wanna kill all enemies or not,by the way if you need more paper just farm the printer enemy,as for the restart,it's a bug and idk how to fix it,thanks for the feeback though!

Submitted

GAMEPLAY: I ran into some issues before I could reach the core concept: progressing John's text made me lose all my ammo before I knew what my gun did, and I got boxed into a wall by the table monster, unable to move. Restarting took me to the next stage, and I had no idea what to do. You've given a good amount of control tips, but don't forget to mention E switches weapons. Once I got into the game proper, the dynamics of turning objects into weapons and materials was quite enjoyable. I did find it difficult to hurt enemies without getting hurt myself, but my reflexes have never been good, anyhow.

VISUALS: The simple pixel art does make things clear, but there isn't much flair to be had. Changing the default font is a simple thing to give a game character; fonts.google.com has a lot of options to sort through, all free through OFL, including pixelated options. The items are easily the best-looking part, with just enough detail to make them pop. Extend this to the main character and their surroundings, and you'll have something solid.

AUDIO: Again, very simple, but the main tune is pleasant, and the sound effects add a bit of bite. The only thing more to ask is some music in the tutorial room and the menus.

THEME: You've pretty much nailed it on 'everything is a resource', and I don't think I need to clarify as to why. Good work!

Developer

Thanks a lot for the feedback...oh shoot yeah i forgot to mention what E does,oh and the button next to "Ă " is the one that you use to advance dialogue, while the main character i just couldnt come up with any ideas on how to make it and left it blank, and for the audio i just didnt have enough time,if i will update this i will make sure to fix these  problems

Submitted

So far this game fits the theme of everything is a resource the best.  It's really clever how shooting the objects in the room turn it into something you can pick up and fight with or scrap for materials.  Good job!

Developer

Thanks a lot for the kind words,I am glad to hear that you enjoyed my game!
